Gympie Show 2018. Gympie Show Society Vice President Warren Smith has added his voice to that chorus, saying âwe need to do everything we canâ to make sure the Show doesnât miss a second consecutive year.
âIt has been a tough couple of years but the support from the Gympie Community generally has been outstanding,â Mr Smith said.
âCOVID wiped out last yearâs Show, and almost wiped out the Show Society. Had it not been for a great management crew and team of volunteers, as well as our casual staff, and grants from the State and Federal Governments, along with our Markets, we would not be here.â
The station was the send-off and return point for Diggers fighting in both world wars. Hundreds of Gympie region residents volunteered for the Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force in WWI, including some 30 for the Light Horse Brigade as a reflection of the region s strong horseriding skills. The trip includes lunch at the historic Gympie Station, followed by a special train service aboard the Mary Valley Rattler to Amamoor Staton. Lunch starts from 11.45am, with the train departing for return to Gympie at 1pm and arriving at about 4pm. Passengers will watch as the train is turned around on the Amamoor station s revolving platform for the return journey to Gympie.

Owner Matthew Ward said the response from the people of Gympie has been âabsolutely insaneâ.
âWe have had so much support and customer traffic, itâs been overwhelming,â Mr Ward said.
âWe are feeling really grateful for the support from our Gympie Community.
âAs for the coffee, I think I speaks for itself.â

Premium Content Printing presses and graphic design go hand-in-hand for invitations, cards and company branding. But for Gympie businessman and printer Mat Tawse and designer Cat Childs the meeting of these two industries went hand-in-hand with family, too. It was a match made in heaven, Mr Tawse said. This match led to the creation The Love Press, an online printing company the couple started in 2008 before packing it up from its original location in Brisbane and relocating it to Gympie. This was in December 2019, right before COVID hit - but they stressed the pandemic was not the reason they hightailed it from the big city.
