The Supreme Court on Friday took into the record the assurance given by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that the district administration has provided sufficient water facilities to the devotees performing Wazu (ablution) and coming for Namaz inside the Gyanvapi mosque premises.
The Varanasi District Court held that a suit filed by Hindu parties seeking worship rights inside the Gyanvapi Mosque was not barred under the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking restoration of worship rights over the Shivling found by the court commissioner inside the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi.
