Ghaziabad: A day after farmers and BJP workers clashed at UP Gate, 200 ‘unknown’ farmers were booked on Thursday for rioting, criminal intimidation and assault on the basis of a complaint by a party worker. No action was, however, taken on a counter complaint by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), following which farmer leaders threatened to start indefinite protests outside police stations across the state.
The complaint lodged by Sidhi Pradhan, a BJP worker, stated that when they were waiting to welcome the party’s newly-appointed state secretary, Amit Valmiki, more than 200 farmers attacked them with sticks, iron rods and weapons, and also damaged their vehicles.

Police are examining the case of a 16-year-old boy who died when a bullet hit him from a point-blank range at a wedding in Uttar Pradesh s Agra. The family of the boy has claimed that the killing was intentional.
The incident happened in Agra’s Khandauli area on Thursday morning around 3-4 am, The Times of India reported.
According to the police, the accused were identified as Jitendra, Sachin Satendra, Papu, Gajraj,Ramu and Manish.
Gyanendra Singh, SP City-2 (THA) said that Satendra was employed as a driver in the cement company and usually had the information about money transactions. “After collecting all the information about the money being transacted, he passed the information to Jitendra alias Jeetu, who is a well known gangster in west UP. Jitendra had gathered his gang members and robbed Sandeep at Shipra underpass on April 19,” Singh said.
Over 20 cases, including murder, snatching, theft, cases under the Arms Act, Gangster Act, extortion were registered against the seven in several police stations of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.
