PROVINCETOWN The health department has proposed a five-year mental health plan for townspeople in need, including more support groups and funding a clinician to see patients for free on a short-term basis.
The plan, presented by town Health Director Morgan Clark during the Jan. 25 Select Board meeting, aims to not only expand the mental health resources in town but through grants and other implementations help reduce the barriers that prevent individuals from using that help. The planning comes at a time when pressure with the COVID-19 threat have been building, Clark said.
“I just want to commend you for creative problem-solving here,” Select Board member Lise King said at the meeting. “This is clearly an attempt to make an intervention in a situation where some creative problem-solving is needed.”
