The Madison County Courthouse celebrated 100 years of operation on Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
âI can only imagine 100 years ago what it must have been like, something probably similar to what weâre doing right now,â said representative-elect Jon Weber. âAlthough theyâd be gathering and circling maybe some teams of horses and wagons.â
The Madison High School band provided prelude music to the crowd of about 50 people and Boy Scout Troop 888 posted the American and state flags and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The County Commissioners recognized several community residents who they thought were instrumental to the legacy of Madison County including Reed Sommer, Gwen Sutton, Mary Lee Curtis, Angie Wood, Vicki Grover and former Sen. Brent Hill.
