On a breezy and chilly Saturday evening nearly18 months after last taking the field at home, the New Mexico women’s soccer team turned in a picture perfect display on the pitch, unveiling a dominating defense and a ball-control offense.
The result was a strong 3-0 victory over Utah State before an announced attendance of 419.
In many ways, the game was a coming out party for attacking midfielder Jadyn Edwards, who was a force on both ends of the field and was utterly unstoppable by anybody in an Aggies jersey.
So it was perhaps only fitting that she got the first goal, putting one in from 23 yards out in the 49th minute on a direct kick after she was dumped by a Utah State defender.
