My dear friend Gwen Hawkins and husband Fred moved away from the violence of Richmond to be my next-door neighbors in Suisun City. Gwen helped me when my dear wife Zella was losing her battle with Alzheimer’s. At the end, Gwen was spending more time at my house than at home with her family.
Now dear Gwen will be undergoing a heart transplant. It’s hard to imagine. After waiting several years, her name has finally gotten to the head of the list. A new heart is in sight.
