After reading Gwen Faulkenberry's recent column on why she is no longer a Southern Baptist, I decided to lay out the reasons why I remain one, even with all its bumps and bruises. Gwen makes excellent points, and I believe she is sincere and support her right to express those views, even though I disagree.
I have enjoyed reading the opinion columns by Gwen Faulkenberry in the Sunday paper. Her opinions regarding most topics have been similar to mine. As a fifth-generation Arkansas Southern Baptist, I was especially interested in her column about moving on from her Southern Baptist roots.
When I was young, a neighbor would occasionally take me to a wrestling match in the basement of the Robinson Auditorium. Even at age 9, it was obvious to me that the matches were fake.
