calls them and talks to them and says it s going to stop. and they wouldn t be there, saudi arabia, as an example, wouldn t be there except for us. and when i talk about china, everyone knows it s true. we re rebuilding china. they are taking our jobs. they are making all of our product. and people hear this and other things coming from me and really it s not me, it really is the message. other politicians, the amazing thing and i saw the other poll that came out yesterday, nbc poll wall street journal where i was leading and nobody grasps what i m saying because i really believe it s the lobbyists. they have tremendous power over these politicians. if you go to washington and try and hire an anti-opec lobbyists, you can t do it because there are so few of them around. opec has taken them all. every politician has their lobbyists that says to them, guess what, you re not going against opec. you can t do it.
campaign. john mccain achieved front runner status relatively late in the campaign cycle, in other races the nominee rose to the top by march in the year prior to the election. all right. why is that? pat buchanan, why is that? why is there no one? because there s a pretty even it s not an enormously strong field but it s very balanced in the sense that you have a social conservative like huckabee who did well and ran second or just about dead last on. you have palin with her area out there. newt is nationally known. it is really as mixed it s not an extremely strong field but it s a wide open field i think although as i said earlier i think romney has gotten out ahead in terms of organization in the early states which are almost always decisive. there s a huge groundswell for pat to jump in this thing. i understand that. clear the field. i understand that. speaking of a groundswell to get a candidate to jump in, still
meaningful choices and acting as policy puppet masters, but here is the thing, it is way more complicated than that. what motivates a sheldon adelson or foster freeze or on the left, a george soros to throw millions into the political arena in a global economic world where money crosses the national boundaries with little more than a tap of the finger, why do these guys care who the president is, or what laws govern rural counties or what sits is on school boards? what are the motivations? some say they want to maintain their wealth, but how much does that explain about the political actions in maybe the titans of industry want power for power sake, and maybe ideologically driven and want to create a world that mirrors their own world views, be as we wring our hands in distress about how their money is buying our elections maybe we should push pause on the conspiracy theories and try to understand what is
