HUMOR: “I mean I’ll be more employable than … what do you even call them? Ecologyists? Evolutionarists? Geoscientists? HMEI Faculty Seminar: “Buildings from Plants: Architecture and Embodied Carbon” Paul Lewis, Professor of Architecture, will present “Buildings from Plants: Architecture and Embodied Carbon” in Guyot Hall, Room 10, and online via Zoom. Lewis is the third speaker in the spring 2023 HMEI Faculty Seminar Series. Buildings are responsible for a large percentage of global carbon emissions, and the carbon expended to make buildings is substantial yet under considered. Arguing that the most viable means to radically reduce embodied carbon in new buildings is to use plant and earth based materials, Lewis will talk about how this approach can be a catalysts for new types of architecture that reduces or sequesters carbon, engages regenerative life cycles and creates healthier spaces for living. This seminar is free and open to the public with registration. Lunch will be available in the Guyot Atrium at noon. All attendees can register in advance to attend this event via Zoom livestream.
