you said inflation was going to be temporary. i think a lot of americans wondering what your definition of temporary is. you re being a wise guy a little bit. i understand that s your job. when can americans expect relief? according to 14 of them to me and start to taper off as we go through this year and in the meantime, i m going to do everything in my power to deal with the big points that are impacting most people in their homes. joining me right now, cnn white house correspondent john harwood and chief political analyst gloria borger. you know, i asked something similar to what lester holt to biden of the top economic advisers and jared bernstein yesterday and had no problem answering the question. but the president s response, i don t get it, do you? reporter: i actually do, kate.
back in july you said inflation was going to be temporary. i think a lot of americans are o wondering what your definition of temporary is. well, you re i being a wise guy a little bit. the reason for inflation isti the supply chains were cut off. it s going to be able to start t to taper off as we go through this year. and while biden makes empty promises about inflation off, well, small businesses are getting clobbered. my next guest has experienced firsthand here with me nowow is mary josephine, generosa manager and owner of rocko sro pastry shop in new york city. mary josephine, i wanted to talk to a small business owner tonight , not a politician about this because people haveta to understand how it affects just the the possibility of a business surviving today. how hard has it been? le
like i was walking just yesterday and is beautiful girl rode by on a bicycle and one of the guys in the group ahead of me and says look at her. i wish i could be that bicycle seat. and i am like what? don t you think is it a little bit of an unrealistic goal? if you are going for it, why not just be aimed to to be the guy that is sleeping with her. maybe something that doesn t require sorcery. greg: i didn t think that was going to come up during the segment. tw, a lot of this crime come every time it s committed, it is fueled by homeless mentally ill people on the streets as if we can t do anything about it. they are to live as if they are like stray dogs from 1970s were dogs were we just have to live like it. lets they give the guy a little bit of a break, greg. fox s about the only place you can find a christmas tree. everything else is a tall douglas fir that identifies as a holiday tree.

holdovers. is there a trouble do you have any concern that some trump loyalists have been pushed out of the west wing? does the president have any concerns about that? i think the president has given general kelly the full authority to staff his white house to the best of his ability ability. and right now general kelly has wide latitude, in my opinion, to bring the people in or ask those people to leave that he thinks are going to serve the president in the appropriate manner. let s give this guy a little bit of leeway, let s give him an opportunity. he s been here for a week, he s making decisions, he s changing things in the white house for the better and, you know, we can evaluate his staffing decisions as you move forward but i think right now general kelly has a core competency that is much needed in that white house as the chief of staff. he understands the national security component of things so let s give him the ability to bring in the people that he thinks are best to s
