Protests in Assam, Tripura against farm laws

Guwahati/Agartala, Feb 6 : Left parties and their front organisations on Saturday organised sit-in demonstrations instead of the ‘chakka jam’ against the three farm laws in Assam and Tripura.
In Assam, the Communist Party of India-Marxist Central Committee member Suprakash Talukdar said that the Left parties along with the front organisations have organised sit-in protests at around 12 places across the BJP-ruled state.
The protest demonstrations were held for several hours in every place expressing solidarity with the farmers and demanding immediate withdrawal of the three farm laws. “We would continue to organise different types of protests against the three farm legislations,” Talukdar told the media.

Guwahati/Agartala, Jan 31 : After Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, the state-owned Oil India Limited (OIL) has ventured out to the fourth northeastern state of Tripura, aspiring to explore natural gas by conducting a seismic survey.
OIL, India s second largest national Navratna company after ONGC, in terms of total proved plus probable oil and natural gas reserves, has kickstarted its exploration and production operations by launching its first ever seismic survey in southern Tripura bordering Bangladesh.
OIL Deputy General Manager (CC) Tridiv Hazarika said that currently the company has explored huge oil and gas reserves in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh while engaged in exploration works in Mizoram.
Covid vaccination: No severe AEFI cases reported in NE states

Guwahati/Agartala, Jan 21 : No serious or severe cases of Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) have reported from any of the eight northeastern states since the Covid-19 vaccination drive started on January 16, officials said on Thursday.
A senior official of the National Health Mission (NHM) in Assam told IANS that only 15 very minor cases of AEFI were reported till Thursday evening out of the total of 10,676 beneficiaries who have been vaccinated since January 16. Through 229 sessions, Covid-19 vaccines were administered to 10,676 beneficiaries in 65 session sites in 33 districts across Assam, the official said.
