COLUMBIA BASIN – With the Mat Classic just about a month away, Basin squads continue to battle down the stretch of the 2023-24 wrestling season. Read along to see how local teams fared at last weekend’s tournaments across the Pacific Northwest.
WARDEN Penalties and turnovers marred the Cougar offense and its ability to sustain drives on Friday night against Kiona-Benton, leading to a 36-12 home loss to the Bears.
The Cougars turned the ball over six times, and while penalties consistently kept Warden behind the chains on offense.
The Yellow Jacket Band took 16 members to Argyle this past weekend to compete in the Association of Texas Small School Bands area round of auditions and had a very strong showing.
Yellow Jacket musicians earn placement in region band

Several Yellow Jacket Band members participated in the region band auditions recently. This was an unusual setting in that the auditions were held virtually for the first time.
Fifth-two students earned placement in the region band and 25 will advance to the area round in January.
