challenge the courts to render chicago safe by holding violent offenders in jail longer, not releasing murderers back into our community. that s what we can do different. now the question is whether this dynamic has contributed significantly to increases in violent crime. now when you look at data released by the cook county state s attorney s office, they say since september 25th, 2020, through mid-june this year there were 705 total arrests of those on electronic monitoring. 278 of them were gun offenders. nine were alleged nongun offenders coming in accused of murder. and zero alleged murderers coming in then accused of murder on a rearrest, according to the cook county s state s attorney s office. telephone does seem that chicago is the only city that allows for a pretrial release when murder
