more. so we will have details on that coming up. first, check in with steve doocy to see what s coming up on fox & friends. good morning, steve. steve: were you talking to me? i m sorry, i was texting. good morning, ladies, is the president shaming congress into approving a gun control package saying we have forgotten the kids from the newtown shooting? we re going to talk about that then, are scientist manipulating you into eating more food in the author of rich food, poor food. it s here on that. plus, one school is banning dodge ball because of safety concerns. but we are not. we are i m playing with eric bolling dodge ball outside live on the plaza. country music group thompson square is in the studio getting ready to perform a brand new song. that and so much more on this good friday edition of fox & friends starts 14 minutes from right now. dodge ball? stop it. michael, tell us why you used priceline express deals
other gun control like background checks or limiting high capacity ammunition clips, even trafficking, and so the thinking and it really has been all along, is that if they put the assault weapons ban in this broad gun control package, then the whole thing will go down whereas if they take it out, and put it as an amendment which is the plan right now, we do expect a vote, then it is likely other gun control measures could potentially pass. they d rather get what they can get as opposed to losing everything. bingo. that is the theory. don t go too far. we have an amazing story. we re going to get a different perspective on the gun debate in our next hour. the speaker john boehner, his exclusive interview with our own jake tapper is coming up a little bit later. but dana will be back in a moment. she was running, literally running with michelle bachmann the congresswoman bobbing and weaving pulling fast moves to duck some tough questions from dana. dana s pursuit of the
washington it said it would have had a republican filibuster if they kept that provision in. but a lot of people who are advocates that maybe something is different, something changed on december 14th in america, look at washington and don t think so anymore. christine covers congress. it shouldn t be a surprise that this didn t get to the floor? exact low. this played out exactly like everyone thought it was. all the attention around newtown didn t change the political dynamics in the senate. the question had always been would harry reid put this assault ban into a bigger package of gun control and then force republicans to vote against an entire gun control bill which would have been much harder than pulling this piece out individually and allowing one vote on it and it will go down as an amendment and then the broader gun control package, including background checks, will likely pass. so it allows the toughest, most controversial piece to get a vote separately and allow the rest
toward the left to get more done? i think when you see the issues of gun control, really start to move. you re going to see a lot of those folks in moderates in both the house and the senate going to be a little squeamish about moving forward on some of these issues. folk even in the senate. you have moderate democratic senators from alaska, from arkansas, from louisiana, from north carolina, who are a little nervous about embracing the full extent of the president s gun control package or even a narrow portion of it. on those issues, it will be difficult. on the immigration issue it will be difficult. when we start talking about the pathway to citizenship for the nation s 11 million illegal immigran immigrants, when that starts moving forward, that s something the president will have to monitor closely. if he does get some republican buy-in like on immigration, that will help give some of those moderate democrats coverage. i think the flip side is that the idea of obama moving far
principles laid out were part of the broader gun control package. there is a disconnect there, and, you know, it s ease where i to lay the disconnect at the feet of the nra, and they have so much influence. that s part of it. i think there s more there. i m kind of interested as a reporter to find out what it is because there is that disconnect. it s not only in southern states. it s not just in western states. i covered pennsylvania politics for years. when guns became part of that will conversation as well, and clinton won the pennsylvania primary. guns are part of a culture in new york, in new hampshire, in maine where the nra is going after susan collins in part of their advertising. it s a hard vote for members of congress. thank you very much. thanks to the washington post and roy montgomery and kneea malika. thank you very much. joining me now is maryland
