The prelate passed away on April 3 after suffering a heart attack and was laid to rest at Rubanga Cathedral in Kampala.
Dr Lwanga was appointed Kampala Archbishop in 2006 and served in the position until his death. Prior to that, Dr Lwanga served as the Bishop of Kasana-Luweero from 1996 to 2006.

Aswa County Member of Parliament (MP) Ronald Reagan Okumu, who has been in Parliament since 1996, was one of the 12 lawmakers in Acholi sub-region who lost in the January polls. Others include Aruu County MP Samuel Odonga Otto, Agago North MP Moris Ogenga-Latigo and Kitgum Municipality MP Beatrice Anywar.
