Flyover above, ruins below

Flyover above, ruins below Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) early in June inaugurated a kilometre-long flyover between Apsara Talkies and Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation to ease traffic congestion in the Gultekdi-Market Yard area. The flyover built on the Jawaharlal Nehru Road was supposed to benefit thousands of commuters who travel towards Market Yard, Bibwewadi and Kondhwa. However, PMC who spent over 30 crore for the construction of this flyover, completely neglected the Nehru Road on which it is being built. Lack of coordination within the road department and ward office has resulted in the road being developed in phases and patches. This means, this stretch of road is a ‘threein-one’ road. Three types of road material paver blocks, cement concrete and tar have been used in patches. The shoddy work has created huge potholes on the road making it dangerous for commuters.
