Sixth and ninth graders in the Gulfport School District return to school

WXXV News 25 July 22, 2021 Today was the first day of school for sixth and ninth graders in the Gulfport School District. This year, class is starting earlier than normal for the Gulfport School District because they have adapted a new flex schedule. Students are still in school for their typical 180 days, but the weeks that are taken away from their summer will be distributed throughout the school year for breaks. The new schedule gives students shorter breaks so they can retain more information that’s typically lost over the summer vacation. The breaks will also be used to focus on special groups like the bottom 25% or use the time for ACT practice.
