about thousands of abandoned oil wells in the gulf. last week, the associated press reported that there are 27,000 abandoned wells that are not regularly inspected for leaks. now congressional committee investigating the current gulf spill is expanding its work. the panel wants to know if abandoned wells are leaking or if inspections are in fact being done. bp is being called to testify before lawmakers on another controversial issue. the release of convicted lockerbie bomber abdelbaset al megrahi. democratic senator john kerry wants answers about al megrahi s release from a british prison last year. he was sent home to libya. bp had admitted to lobbying for his release because of a pending oil deal in libya. hearings on capitol hill are set for later this month. some bagged lettuce products are being recalled because of a possible link to e. coli. the recall is for fresh express romaine salads. look for expired use by dates of july 8th through 12th. there s an s in the product c
