Gulf Shores City Schools surprised the Teachers of the Year Dec. 10. One teacher from each school was selected by their peers and received the award during a surprise ambush presentation. School board members, school staff and a small marching band marched through the hall to the teacher’s class. The teachers were then recognized during the Dec. 10 Regular School Board meeting.
“We have a school system full of great teachers and so to be the Teacher of the Year means you really have to be special,” said superintendent Matt Akin.
The Gulf Shores High School Teacher of the Year is Krista Marcum. Marcum teaches Gulf Coast Ecology and Marine Science.
