Project to convert the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway from four-lane to six-lane, a menace to the economies of private as well as state-owned organisations, is now again delayed further. Last scheduled to be inaugurated in October this year, this project still has at least 10% of the work left to be done.
Ahmedabad, serving as a nexus of employment opportunities for people throughout the state, sees its transportation hubs become extremely busy as hundreds of thousands of travellers make their way towards their homes through state transport.
The travel fare per person from Surat to Amreli is Rs 400, to Savarkundla is Rs 425, Bhavnagar Rs 350, Mahuva Rs 405, Rajkot Rs 385, Junagadh Rs 435, Jamnagar Rs 445, Ahmedabad Rs 280, Dahod Rs 305 and Chhota Udepur Rs 275.
Most of the passengers travelling through public transport have been into a situation where either them, or the conductor, would not have change with them, leading to letting go off the change, or waiting for someone else to pay to get the change back.
