During the counting, held on September 23 and 24, birdwatchers counted a total of 694 European rollers, 58 greater white throats and 36 common cuckoos.
Majority of the waterbirds that are commonly spotted in the wetlands of Gujarat are usually drab coloured. The shades and hues of grey and brown are predominant in the plumage of our waterbirds so are white and black.
