Union employees at Latrobe’s City Brewing on Tuesday took to the picket line, stopping work at the plant in what they called a strike over unfair labor practices. Brewery employees have been without a contract since March 3. They staged an informational picket the following day, with no work stoppage.
Union workers say seniority and overtime are issues that have placed them at odds with management at Latrobe’s City Brewery during contract negotiations. They took their message to the streets Friday, as about 50 people participated in a morning informational picket outside the brewery. More were expected in the afternoon.

The Latrobe brewery once home to Rolling Rock beer in its classic green bottles is poised to lose another iconic local brew: Iron City Beer.
Pittsburgh Brewing Co. announced plans to make its popular lager at a former glass plant in East Deer. The company revealed late Wednesday it will move production from the City Brewing Co. plant in Latrobe to its own facility to be built at the shuttered PPG glass plant along the Allegheny River sometime next year.
