Firefighters attended to the scene near the intersection of Guardian Road and 199 Street. Crews showed up and rescued the animal, preventing any injury to machine or beast. No damage was reported but, sadly, neither was the breed of dog nor the type of car. Perhaps it was a Mercedes 190E with the dogleg gearbox, or maybe a RUF Porsche from the 1990s.
We’ll take this opportunity to remind pet owners that summer is just around the bend, even though it may not look like it given the amount of snow dumped on the Toronto area this morning. Leaving one’s pets unattended in a car is never a good idea, but it takes on an especially troublesome tack when temperatures start to rise. Either bring ’em with you when you leave the car, or make alternate arrangements for them to stay at home. Same goes for kids, it must be said.
