Minister of State, Nathaniel McGill
The form and manner in which Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill conducted himself over his handling of the alleged disappearance of over US$40,000 out of his account at the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTbank) at the Monrovia City Court has raised serious concern about how the Minister exercises authority as a key figure to the presidency.
This stems from Minister McGill’s decision not to file an official complaint before the Liberia National Police (LNP) to investigate the accusation that the bank’s management was behind the illegal withdrawal through his ATM card, which investigation would have found the basis for the court’s arrest order against some senior managers.

Many banks in different parts of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, were unable to meet cash demands of customers on Monday as residents trooped out in their numbers to withdraw money ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Visits to some of the banks’ branches revealed a very rowdy banking day, with security personnel adopting all possible methods to manage crowds of customers who desperately needed to make withdrawals from the automated teller machines (ATMs).
The situation was compounded by alleged rationing of available cash by the banks as evident in most of the ATMs not dispensing cash, leading to very long queues on the few seen dispensing.

The two branches of the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, have been closed for about three days now after the state government shut them over “unpaid N184 million taxes”.
Access to the bank premises and facilities has been restricted through a court order obtained by the Akwa Ibom internal revenue service.
An official of the revenue agency, Leo Umanah, said GTBank failed to settle its outstanding liabilities to the Akwa Ibom government, despite a warning issued to it since February.
