India s toy exports saw a slight decline to USD 152.34 million in 2023-24 from USD 153.89 million the previous year. Despite quality control orders, exports did not benefit much. GTRI Founder Ajay Srivastava suggested a more comprehensive strategy to develop the industry and boost exports.
GTRI said that the imports could go up primarily as Chinese EVs are facing anti-subsidy investigations in the large markets such as the European Union and the US.
WTO member countries are unlikely to reach a consensus on reforming the dispute settlement system at the upcoming ministerial conference (MC). The differences between developed and developing countries over the issue pose a challenge.
This comes as the 164-member World Trade Organization (WTO) is set to gather next month in Abu Dhabi for the 13th ministerial conference (MC) to resolve different issues such as reforms in dispute settlement mechanisms, agriculture-related matters among other key issues.
