A McHenry County judge Wednesday granted a default judgment ordering the developer of a stalled 100-unit apartment project in Fox River Grove to pay $145,000 to Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete Inc.
Contractors who began building a 100-unit Fox River Grove apartment complex in 2019, which has been stalled since last spring, said they are owed millions of dollars by the project s developer.
The good news, Fox River Grove trustees relayed this week, is that the village could be getting a new sushi restaurant to replace the former Sticks Pub & Grub along Route 14. Unfortunately, other properties along Route 14 remain in limbo, including a section of village-owned property secured via eminent domain.
The contractor that built the concrete foundation for a new apartment complex in Fox River Grove, whose further construction has been on hold for permitting reasons, accused the developer of never paying them for the work.
Work on an apartment complex in downtown Fox River Grove has stopped with only the concrete frames of the first two floors and the underground parking lot constructed. That s all the village has approved so far. To take the next step, the village must sign off on the final plans.
