BAMC suspends elective surgeries as COVID threat grows

Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio said Tuesday it’s suspending elective surgeries as worsening conditions trigger restrictions for civilian medical facilities under orders issued by Gov. Greg Abbott.
BAMC said it would temporarily delay some elective surgeries, particularly those requiring an overnight stay.
“These are non-life-threatening surgeries,” BAMC spokesman Bob Whetstone said. “If somebody has to have a bypass, that’s going to happen.”
