The statewide trout fishing season heats up beginning Saturday, April 24, when hundreds of lakes throughout Washington open for business and the annual statewide trout derby kicks off for 2021.
Opening day also marks the beginning of the annual statewide trout derby, where anglers can win prizes by catching tagged trout in lakes across Washington. There are more than 1,000 prizes available in 2021, with a total value of more than $38,000. The derby runs through Oct. 31.

Columbia River mainstem
Bonneville – 197 bank anglers kept 10 Chinook and released one Chinook; six boats/12 rods kept two Chinook and released one Chinook.
Camas/Washougal – 17 boats/38 rods kept two Chinook and released one Chinook.
Interstate-5 area – 15 boats/21 rods had no catch.
Vancouver – 40 bank anglers kept two Chinook; 111 boats/230 rods kept 19 Chinook and released two Chinook.

Buoy 10 upstream to Bonneville Dam, including Deep River Through April 4, salmon and steelhead daily limit is six with up to two adults may be retained of which no more than one may be an adult Chinook. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook. Release wild steelhead. Salmon minimum size is 12 inches.
A variety of opportunities for the public to participate in setting state-managed salmon fishing seasons for 2021 have been scheduled by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
