In December 2010, a boy, almost 3 years old, lost his life after being swept away by floods in the Groot Marico River in the North West while he and his family were on holiday.
On Friday, the North West High Court in Mahikeng ruled in favour of the family, saying the guest farm was liable for damages.
Acting Judge of the High Court in Mahikeng, MZ Makoti, started her judgment by saying the summer vacation ended in tragedy when the boy s family battled torrents on the banks of the river in the early hours of 16 December 2010.
