Dave Grohl has some pretty exciting news to share he s written a book.
On Tuesday (April 6), Grohl announced Dave Grohl: The Storyteller will be hitting store shelves in the very near future. The book comes on the heels of Grohl s Instagram account Dave s True Stories, which he launched last year. The book will build on the platform with even more “tales of life and music” for fans of the musician.
“So, I’ve written a book,” Grohl shared with his fans. “Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities (‘It’s a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!’), I have decided to write these stories just as I have always done, in my own hand.

Published by Dey Street Books – a HarperCollins imprint – and out October 5, the book is described as a celebration of music and a collection of life stories from the legendary rocker. From childhood mishaps and adolescent adventures to stories about his time in Nirvana and Foo Fighters, Grohl is promising to cover his life s craziest and most touching moments.
Giving fans a taste of what s in store from his literary venture, Grohl posted an 11-minute-plus introduction to the book Tuesday on YouTube.
But 9th-grade Dave Grohl didn t know that at the time.
Yesterday, Grohl s Instagram, @davestruestories, posted for the first time since last summer.
He shared a journal entry from when he was fifteen, contemplating life and who he d turn out to be in the future.
Little did he know what was in store!

In May 2020, Grohl committed his thoughts to print in the form of an article for
The Atlantic. Titled “The Irreplaceable Thrill of Rock,” the essay seems to have left the musician with the writing bug. From there, he began spinning yarn after yarn by way of a nascent Instagram account. Less than a year later, he has a formal book en route to print.
