Path of Exile’s Next Expansion Will Shake Up the Meta
You re going to have a lot more options for building your character - even more then before surprisingly.
Path of Exile’s next big expansion has just been unveiled in a livestream with Grinding Gear Games’ co-founder Chris Wilson. Called the 3.15 update – or
Expedition – it’s a massive new content drop themed around a “group of Kalguurans who have set out on an expedition to investigate the fate of their ancestors and recover special ruined artifacts they left behind”.
Alongside new characters to meet and things to do, it’ll add a new challenge league, make the game trickier overall, and shake up the game’s meta by adding gems… lots and lots of new gems.

Path Of Exile Studio Let Paid Streamers Skip Server Queue, Apologizes
Grinding Gear Games admits it shouldn t have given streamers preferential treatment.
Path of Exile 2 is on the way, but the first game s latest expansion, Ultimatum, launched this week. It was a bit of a mess, to put it mildly, with players stuck waiting in server queues and unable to play. However, the problems were amplified because of Grinding Gear Games decision to let paid streamers skip the lines and start playing right away.
As spotted by Eurogamer, Path of Exile producer Chris Wilson explained on a Reddit thread that the Ultimatum Challenge League, which is a risk/reward trial players are essentially competing against each other in, was letting players in far too slowly. Human error resulted in the normal trickle migration process not being run, and players continued being dumped out of the realm until an eventual fix was made several hours later.

Since 2013, Grinding Gear Games has slowly built a community around the free-to-play Path of Exile, a game by creators dissatisfied with the lack of dungeon crawlers available at the time. As Grinding Gear Games plans another Path of Exile expansion, Ultimatum, it’s working hard on the next series entry: Path of Exile 2. The sequel introduces new gameplay mechanics and weapon classes, but doesn t leave the community behind. In a nice touch, your Path of Exile character and purchases carry over into Path of Exile 2, letting you jump into the new PC game without losing a step.
