Ada Fender has actually done it.
Not only was she recognized for her contest submission, but she got to work with a group of musical professionals to score, arrange and record it with a pair of Broadway vocalists.
The Windsor Heights resident said she learned about the contest from her mother. I like to write songs a lot, and it sounded like a really good opportunity if I was able to become a finalist, she said.
She entered a rough draft of her song in February 2020 and learned she was a finalist in September 2020. Called, Great Grim Green, her musical theatrical number is set in a fantasy world called Morania, where the character Liz, an orphaned, 27-year-old peasant, sings of deciding to visit a witch, known as the Great Grim Green Guinevene, who she asks to turn her into a new person.
