Today we are joined by the NDP Member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay Charlie Angus. He s also the lead singer and principal songwriter for the Canadian roots band Grievous Angels, and the group has just released its ninth album Last Call for Cinderella. Charlie tells us about this new recording and how he feels it really is an album for our times. We talk about how he captures affecting stories about ordinary Canadians in his songs and hopes they can also comment on the current state of affairs - politically and socially - in Canada right now. We also talk about the great players in this band (and how some of them have been working with Charlie since the 1980s), the new female vocalists and how they work together to capture a broad array of rootsy musical influences in the band s sound. They aren t performing in Ottawa any time soon but Charlie hopes to announce an Ottawa concert some time in the near future. They do have some concerts upcoming in Ontario and Charlie mentions
