Church Point Man Arrested in Murder of Teenage Boy in Rayne
41-year-old Scott Cooper of Church Point has been arrested following the early morning murder of a 17-year-old male earlier this week.
Very little details have been released on the homicide. We do know that Rayne Police received help during the investigation from seven other law enforcement agencies - Duson Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Acadia Parish Sheriff s Office, Lafayette Sherriff’s Department, Lafayette Police Department, St Landry Sheriff s Department, and the Houston Police Department.
Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly says his department will release additional information at a later date.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) A preliminary federal report says an offshore oil industry boat had begun to lower its legs and was trying to turn to face heavy winds when it flipped in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana last month.
The report released Tuesday by the National Transportation Safety Board does not go into the cause of the deadly accident. That investigation could take up to two years. The report says the lift boat Seacor Power overturned in the Gulf of Mexico during hurricane-force winds on April 13.
