not. but we know, backing up a little bit, how this started, 6:30 this morning that call came in of an active shooter at this valley transportation authority facility. this is a main transportation hub for this busy bay area suburb. we re very close to downtown san jose. within an hour, sheriff s officials told us that shooter was dead, and we re working to figure out hout that shooter died. just as you mentioned, there s still a lot of moving pieces and authorities are being pretty tight-lipped about some of the details here. they have been holding somewhat hourly press conferences so a little more information trickles in. the vta building is behind me, and right next door is the headquarters for the santa clara county sheriff s office. it s sort of a horseshoe area here. and just in the last hour, we saw dozens of employees walking two by two in a long line here from across the street, and then into this area, which is a county administration building. they re calling this the family
we will have grief counsellors there as well as the red cross of the allow half hour for the final plans on establishment at that center. there are individuals working to have it up and running as soon as possible. a further press conference will be held at the county emergency operations center at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon of which the elected officials and first responders will give you, as well as the fbi, will give you an update. at this time, this is being considered a federal violation and the primary investigative agency will be the federal bureau of investigation. i would like to personally thank the many first responders that have responded to this incident today, to include the pittsburgh bureau of fire, pittsburgh bureau of police, the ems, allegheny county police, and fbi, atf, and numerous others
just be quiet, you know. rather deal with the pain and risk a life or multiple lives. reporter: obviously the school will remain close for the rest of the week. all the school activities have been canceled. grief counsellors will be on hand and the governor in florida has ordered all flags to be ordered to half staff. let me ask you quickly. we know there were 17 fatalities, 15 at the school, two died later at the hospital, what more can you tell us about the conditions of those that remain in the hospitals and those that were injured? reporter: a total of 17 people were transported to hospitals, two of those individuals ended up passing away. we re told that five of them have life-threatening conditions at this point. we are expecting to hear more details in a news conference coming up at 10:30 this morning. completely terrifying to think about your kids being involved in that school and
can t imagine how their lives have been changed. like all of us we re be prayering for them. everybody in the hospital i pray for their full recovery. all the individuals that unfortunately had to go through this experience, i know that there s going to be grief counsellors and i ll sure it will be difficult as they think through what happened. and replay in their mind what happened. i can t imagine going through that. after this press conference i ll go to the hospital to do everything i can with the families. i m going to continue to let local law enforcement the school district, everybody involved know whatever state resources are necessary we will provide whatever resources are needed to do everything we can either whether it s investigation or help any family member that s impacted. i just this is just pure evil. i will be staying here in broward county to do everything i can to be helpful.
horrific death toll of the 59 and identify them. it is taking our coroner time to do it. they are working through that process and working 24-7. they have the support of the medical examiners from the city of new york as well as the coroner in san bernardino. everyone is working hard. at the same time the families are suffering. to me, that s what this is about. i went to see and went to the family resource center and talked with the families. they are suffering and they are looking for some sort of hope that their loved one, they can connect with them and find them and that they are still alive. a lot in this community are unknown. for me and many of my colleagues in this community is about bringing that support and comfort and relief. i can t tell you how many grief counsellors are out in the community. i am proud of the response of the community. everybody has come out. the grief counsellors were there and in the hotels and the staff
