The Competition & Markets Authority has reminded motorway service area and chargepoint operators not to breach competition laws when planning infrastructure.
The CMA has secured commitments from Gridserve which will unlock competition and increase choice of electric vehicle chargepoints on motorways for drivers.

Hitachi Capital UK announced a £10m investment in Gridserve Holdings Limited, the parent company of Gridserve Sustainable Energy Ltd as the firms strengthen their partnership following the launch of the UK’s first ultra-fast electric forecourt, according to a company’s press release.
Hitachi Capital UK’s partnership with Gridserve aims to develop the UK’s approach to solar energy and create the infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, says the release.

Hitachi Capital UK has announced a £10million investment in EV charging firm Gridserve.
Hitachi says the investment, in parent company Gridserve Holdings Limited, reflects its confidence in the business, having funded over £24million in Gridserve projects last year, including the completion of the ultra-fast Electric Forecourt at Braintree in Essex.
Gridserve plans to build more than 100 Electric Forecourts over the next five years, and the Hitachi partnership also includes its new zero EV leasing business.
