One person has been taken to Greymouth Hospital with moderate injuries following a fire at two houses on the West Coast.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said emergency services were called to a house fire on Hall Jones St, Runanga, at 3.47am today.
Firefighters found one house well-involved and a second house caught fire a short while later.

We have all been guilty of forgetting to return a library book on time but what happens when you forget for 121 years? A Herald investigation reveals the country s most overdue library books. Every council in the country was contacted and asked about their most overdue book.
Children s books appear to be the most commonly overdue, making up about 35 per cent of the responses.

Two climbers one badly injured spent a night in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park as rescuers embarked on a complicated mission to get them to safety.
The climbers were caught by a rock slide in steep terrain on Wednesday evening and weather conditions hampered rescue efforts, but a break in the clouds early on Thursday morning allowed a helicopter crew to winch down an alpine cliff rescue team.
