Yes

Buses are often ignored in the history of transportation because they have an image problem. While they are the cheapest form of public transportation, they are also the slowest. They are not as glamorous or romanticized as passenger rail or airlines and are often associated with underprivileged groups. Yet buses were essential to the development of the tourist industry in the Northwoods.
Early roads and vehicle limitations in the first decades of the twentieth century made bus travel to the Northwoods an impossibility. After the First World War, however, things began to change. The first charter bus service giving Chicago residents a tour through the exotic Northwoods of Wisconsin began in the early 1920s. Vehicles of the Gray Bus Line each carried 18 passengers and gave travelers a unique way of viewing the famous lakes of the Northwoods.
Greyhound Bus Offers Free Rides Home to Idaho Runaways
Greyhound Bus Lines is continuing it s partnership with the National Runaway Safeline to bring runaway teens home. The Home Free Program gives runaway kids anywhere in the country a free bus ticket to return back to their families and legal guardians.
To be eligible for a Greyhound ticket home, the young person must be between the ages of 21-21. They also must be named on a runaway report and be willing to be reunited with their family. Before the journey home even begins, the child must first call in to the National Runaway Safline helpline so that the NRS can work with the child and their guardians to arrange a plan for their their return. The support doesn t stop there; the NRS also assists in locating resources in the community that will be able to provide guidance once they are settled.
Greyhound Offers Free Rides Home To Runaways
The free passage is available to runaways between the ages of 12 and 21.
According to fox17.com, here are a couple of things you should know about this offer:
Runaways must call the NRS helpline and let them know they want to accept the Greyhound offer. Their number is 1-800-786-2929
The fact that they have run away must have already been reported to the authorities.
NOTE: Many people, law enforcement officials included, think there is a waiting period to do this. There is not.
The free ride offer can only be used twice by the same individual.
Greyhound Bus Line Offers Free Rides To Runaways
The fall-out from a child runaway is great - both on the individual and on the family left behind. Sources show that an approximate 2.8 million children run away from their homes each year in the United States - most between the ages of 10 to 14 years old.
The sad reality of many of these situations is that once the child has left, it gets harder for them to reunite with their families. Many of these child runaways would return home, but the mechanics of that travel is difficult. That s the impetus of a new program being offered by the Greyhound Bus Line - a way to get home at no cost to the runaway.
