Doctors report masks causing dental issues

Created: January 09, 2021 05:48 PM The pandemic is affecting teeth and mouths - and it isn t virus related, it s mask related. Saratoga Springs Family Dentistry has remained open throughout the pandemic. For a few months there was limited staff, handling mostly emergency care. Now, they re back up to full staff and said they re seeing more and more patients coming with issues related to long-term mask wearing, including bad breath. We tend to be breathing our mouth more, we re getting dry mouth, the bacteria is allowed to sit in our teeth and they produce a sulfur based compound and that produces bad breathe, said Dr. Gregory Dodd of Saratoga Springs Family Dentistry.
