Rakove is the William Robertson coprofessor of history of american studies and political law at Stanford University where hes taught since 1980. Hes also taught at Colgate University from 1975 to 80. And has been visiting professor at nyus school of law. Hes a visionary scholar and author. His book original meanings politics and ideas in the making of the constitution won the Pulitzer Prize in history in 1996. He continues to research, write and speak prolifically. His principle areas of research include the origins of the American Revolution and constitution, the political practice and theory of James Madison, and the role of historical knowledge in constitutional litigation. I think our Principal Task is likely involved in trading the army and developing the capacity of the army to ensure that the armeded forces are balanced, credible and as non sectarian as can be.
