Dallas-area apartment rents are rebounding after setbacks during the pandemic.
Average North Texas apartment rents increases stalled in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Landlords increased the number freebies used to attract renters.
But with the economy opening up and migration to the area continuing, local apartment rents are again headed higher.
D-FW apartment rents in April were up almost 3%, according to RealPage. The biggest gain was in the Fort Worth area, where rents rose by an average of 5% from a year ago.
RealPage chief economist Greg Willet said he saw “stunning momentum in rents during April.”
“Effective asking rents climbed 1.3% during the month of April across the country’s 150 largest metros,” Willet said. “That appears to be the biggest single-month increase ever.”
