Luminant, operators of Graham Power Plant, reported a spill Tuesday, May 9 of an “unknown quantity” of lubrication oil into Lake Eddleman, the city’s primary surface water supply. GPO Manager at Luminant, Greg Stuckey, said Monday, May 15 that cleanup was completed with the company shifting to maintenance of the spill. The plant manager said Monday that the leak was isolated and the oil that spilled into the lake has been cleaned. He said the plant has moved to daily inspections in a maintenance mode.
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta has experimented with tiny homes before. The non-profit organization, Coastal Villages Region Fund, built one in Eek in 2018. The organization says that it would not do it again.
