Russellville School District Superintendent Mark Gotcher pulled his name from consideration for the top job at Conway Public Schools on Monday.
Gotcher, one of three finalists for the superintendentâs job in Conway, has been superintendent of Russellville Schools for the past three years.
Rachel Storment Jones, communications coordinator with the Russellville School District, said Gotcher withdrew his name and is âhappy to remain a Cyclone and the districtâs superintendent.â
Before coming to Russellville, he served as deputy commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education. He has 20 years of administrative experience.
Conway Superintendent Greg Murry will retire from the position in the summer after 14 years.
The Conway Public Schools School Board convened Tuesday night and unanimously confirmed the districtâs new superintendent, Jeff Collum, at their December Board of Education meeting.
Collum, currently superintendent at the Hallsville, Texas Independent School District, will take over from Conwayâs longtime retiring superintendent Dr. Greg Murry after Murryâs retirement in June 2021.
A Texas native, Collum has nine years of experience as a superintendent in Texas and Arkansas, including a tenure at Benton High School. Additionally, he has 15 years administrative experience, having been named âAdministrator of the Yearâ two times, per a Conway Public Schools press release. He lives in Longview, Texas with his wife, Cara, and their three sons.
