A long-discussed shelter in Washington for homeless families is preparing to open, and leaders of the effort say they hope to make a tangible difference in Franklin County.
The appointees include a noted lawyer, a philanthropist and an orthodontist who would be the only member with a degree from a campus other than Columbia's.
