HOUSTON (AP) — Plagued by mental illness, Texas death row inmate Andre Thomas started hearing voices when he was 9 years old and first attempted suicide when he was 10, his attorneys say.
Attorneys for a mentally ill Texas death row prisoner, along with faith leaders and mental health professionals are working to stop his April 5 execution.
He fatally stabbed his estranged wife, their 4-year-old son, and her 13-month-old daughter, cutting out the hearts of the children. He later gouged out both of his eyes, eating one of them.
