HAMILTON â A New Jersey-based pharmaceuticals company says its on track to build a new, commercial scale vaccine manufacturing facility in the Bitterroot Valley.
Tonix Pharmaceuticals first announced plans to locate one of its operations on the east side of Hamilton last winter. And this week, company officials are in town for further discussions with Ravalli County and Hamilton leaders.
Plans are to build on 44-acres of land off Old Corvallis Highway in the Targeted Economic Development District, or TEDD, organized by the county, city and the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority.

The answer to the Biden Administrationâs new conservation goal is not â900.â Politics more than math may define what counts toward the plan to conserve 30% of the nationâs land and water resources by 2030. And that has a lot of people wondering what it means for places like the Rocky Mountain West, where the federal government is the biggest landowner.
For example, Montana Sen. Jon Tester reintroduced his Blackfoot-Clearwater Stewardship Act last month, which would add 79,000 acres to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. But he noted the project has been underway for more than a decade and is not part of Bidenâs 30x30 proposal.
NACo: Federal Public Lands Counties Applaud Direct Aid In The American Rescue Plan Act
NACo News:
WASHINGTON The National Association of Counties (NACo) Saturday welcomed inclusion of a new program to provide additional direct aid to public lands counties as a part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
Sixty-two percent of America’s counties contain untaxable federal public lands, yet counties are still responsible for providing many services in and around these lands.
The Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund, spearheaded by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), will provide $1.5 billion in direct, flexible aid to public lands counties over the next two years, in addition to the American Rescue Plan Act’s $65.1 billion county aid package.
Ravalli County Sheriff Detective Brad Weston received a COVID vaccine at Ravalli County Public Health on Tuesday as part of Phase 1A and 1B vaccinations for the county.
Phase 1A and 1B includes Emergency Medical Services, firefighters, police, dispatchers, dental, home health, hospice, funeral services, ski patrol and other first responders.
The COVID-19 vaccine was from Moderna.
After receiving his vaccination Weston waited in the health department for 15 minutes.
âAny time we give a vaccination or any medication that people have never had before we watch them for anaphylaxis, itâs a typical safety precaution,â Webber said. âWith the COVID vaccine, if Brad had indicated heâd ever had any reaction to any sorts of medicines we would watch him for 30 minutes.â
