Incumbent Councilor Flavia DeBrito, a Democrat, is being challenged for the Ward 2 seat by Brian Keith Tibbetts, a registered Republican who is running with no party affiliation for the seat.
Matthew S. Boulerice, a member of the Waterville Planning Board, plans to run with no party affiliation against City Councilor Michael J. Morris, a Democrat, for the mayor's seat.
City Republicans on Tuesday are scheduled to name candidates for mayor, City Council and Board of Education, as well as Kennebec Water District board of trustees.
The Democratic City Caucus will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 24 at The Elm and the city clerk's office as of Thursday had not been notified as to when the Republican City Committee will caucus.
