Right here on Eyewitness News. New tonight, crime concerns in fayetteville. Assault and Domestic Violence cases are up by 50 since last year. Greg barnes now, where the chief just gave his report to city leaders. According to a recent city report a good number of residents say they did feel a little safer last year but tonight, fayettevilles top cop told city leaders he was not happy at all with last years crime numbers. Monday night, he told City Council Members that overall crime in the city last year was down by a little over 5 . Not the double digit decrease he had promised a year ago at this time. According to the 2015 numbers overall crime in the city was down but Violent Crime was up by 14. 9 including a 50 jump in Domestic Violence assaults. Prison guard at the womens prison in raleigh last month after he was accused of having sex with inmates. He is charged with a sex offense. Developing right now, the suspension of all Sorority Activities at Duke University last less than 24 hours. Good evening, everyone. Steve the decision to partially lift sanctions comes hours after duke announced a new Sorority Member was hospitalized in Critical Condition because of an alcoholrelated incident. Joel brown is live on campus. Joel administrators say they had a productive and candid conversation with the sororities about alcohol use and abuse. What exactly led up to this duke Sorority Member being rushed to the hospital in Critical Condition . Duke administrators would not reveal which one of the 18 sororities was at the center of tuesday nights alcoholrelated Sorority Member in Critical Condition at the hospital. Burlington police say Cesar Torres Acevedo intentionally set fire to trujillo in june. He died in august from his injuries. Investigators say the two men knew each other but did not release a motive. Torres acevedo is in jail on an unrelated charge. Tisha now to a story we have been tracking all night long. A 47yearold man hit and killed on the onramp of i40. Traffic started to back up on i40. Jason jones ran off the road and hit james lucas before hitting the guard rail. Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene. The rent has been closed for several hours while police investigated. It has been reopened. Steve a man from North Carolina accused of transporting 14 million worth of heroin to new york. The nypd says the drugs were hidden in vehicle parts.
