The Greenwood Rising history center is closer to completion, thanks to a generous donation.
Friday, Paycom gave a check for $50,000 to the project. The history center intends to tell the story of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and the subsequent developments that took place in the Greenwood area.
Commission chairman and Oklahoma senator Kevin Matthews said the center will also provide a place for visitors to discuss ways to prevent this from ever happening again.
“You can’t solve anything that you don’t talk about and shed a light on. So, this will shed a light on the story, it will give us an opportunity to reflect,” Matthews said.
